SCOR EDC Celebrates 15 Years of Economic Development Excellence at 2025 AGM

On January 17, 2025, the SCOR Economic Development Corporation (SCOR EDC) proudly marked 15 years of driving economic growth and collaboration in Southwestern Ontario. The Annual General Meeting (AGM) served as a celebration of the organization’s successes, bringing together partners, past board members, and municipal leaders to recognize the lasting impact of SCOR EDC’s work.

Reflecting on 15 Years of Impact

Since its formation, SCOR EDC has been instrumental in supporting economic development across the region, leveraging over $275 million in economic benefits for Southwestern Ontario. Key areas of focus have included infrastructure development, workforce training, and strategic partnerships with government and industry.

“It was great to see all of the partners and past board members come out to celebrate the successes of SCOR EDC,” said incoming Chair Ed Ketchabaw. “It was particularly good to hear that the original $15 million SCOR received for the region is still working in our communities; in Oxford insulating businesses against COVID-19 and in Strathroy-Caradoc contributing to the development of their hospital. These legacy investments are exactly what the original board members had in mind.”

The AGM also saw the appointment of the 2025 SCOR EDC Executive, including:

  • Ed Ketchabaw, Mayor of Bayham – Chair

  • Jennifer Kyle, County of Brant Councillor – Vice Chair

  • Amy Martin, Norfolk Mayor – Past Chair

Honoring SCOR’s Founding Leaders

The celebration also welcomed past inaugural board members, including Dennis Travale, the first Chair of the organization from Norfolk County, and Jim Maudsley, the first representative from Middlesex County. Their leadership helped establish SCOR EDC as a regional economic development leader, laying the foundation for today’s successes.

Looking Ahead: Advocacy at ROMA 2025

Following the AGM, SCOR EDC’s Board of Directors will attend the Rural Ontario Municipal Association (ROMA) Conference from January 19-21. Their discussions with provincial ministers will focus on rural economic priorities such as land use planning, workforce development, and tools like the Rural Housing Information System (RHIS) that support economic resilience.

SCOR EDC remains committed to strengthening economic opportunities in rural Southwestern Ontario. With a strong foundation and a forward-thinking approach, the organization continues to work with partners at all levels to ensure sustainable growth and investment in the region.
